Within the Georgian territory, the service fee or product price can be paid only in Georgian Lari. The exceptions are stipulated by the National Bank of Georgia, for example, transactions regarding the export-import, capital contributions, loan payment, etc.

Penalty: The violation of this regulation will result in imposing the penalty in amount of 200 lari in case of a natural person and 400 lari in case of a legal entity.

While promoting/offering the service or product within the Georgian territory, the service fee or the product price shall be determined in Georgian lari. The service fee or the product price can be determined in foreign currency within the agreement, but the actual payment shall be conducted only in Georgian lari.

Penalty:The violation of this regulation will result in warning the provider, the repeated violation of the regulation will result in imposing the penalty in amount of 1000 lari, each further violation will be fined in amount of 5000 lari.

In case of an installment sale of the property, the sale and purchase price shall not be attached or indexed to a foreign currency if the total liability of the buyer towards the seller does not exceed 200,000 lari. The sale of the property is an installment sale when the property is transferred to the buyer until the sale and purchase price of the property is fully paid and the price is paid in installments, within the periods agreed between the buyer and the seller.

Penalty:  The violation of this regulation will result in warning the respective person. If the breach is not cured within 30 days after the warning, the respective person shall carry the fine in the amount of 1000 lari. If the violation is not remedied within 30 days after imposing the penalty, the respective person shall be fined repeatedly.

Note: The violation is considered to be cured if the sale and purchase agreement is terminated or the respective amendment is made to the terms of the sale and purchase agreement in respect to the regulation. 

The loan shall be disbursed only in Georgian Lari if the loan amount does not exceed 200,000 lari unless the total liability of the borrower towards the creditor exceeds 200,000 lari. 

Penalty: The violation of this regulation will result in warning the respective person. If the breach is not cured within 30 days after the warning, the respective person shall carry the fine in the amount of 1000 lari. If the violation is not remedied within 30 days after imposing the penalty, the respective person shall be fined repeatedly.

Note: The violation is considered to be cured if the loan agreement is terminated or the respective amendment is made to the terms of the loan agreement in respect to the regulation.

While transferring the property under a finance lease, the finance lease cost shall not be attached or indexed to a foreign currency unless the total liability of the lessee to the respective lessor exceeds 200,000 lari.

Penalty: The violation of this regulation will result in warning the respective person. If the breach is not cured within 30 days after the warning, the respective person shall carry the fine in the amount of 1000 lari. If the violation is not remedied within 30 days after imposing the penalty, the respective person shall be fined repeatedly.

Note:  The violation is considered to be cured if the finance lease agreement is terminated or the respective amendment is made to the terms of the finance lease agreement in respect to the regulation.
